What I like about San Francisco is just in a short distance you can escape the city and get a taste of an amazing countryside such as Point Reyes National Seashore.
Grassy and Wildflower Strewn Hillsides with Cows and Deers
Just 30 miles North of San Francisco, Point Reyes burst with diverse beauty from its thunderous ocean breakers crashing againts its shore, to its sandy beaches and rocky coastline rich with tidepools through its colorful hillsides teeming with wildflowers during spring, deers grazing on its slopes and cow/dairy farms.

Another great thing I admire in this long stretch of coastal land is that you can go for miles and miles and not see any trace of commercialism at all! From its open grasslands, grassy hillsides and forested ridges, Point Reyes is such a gem Californians can be thankful for. You would think that with the very expensive real estate in California especially along the ocean, every piece of land that lies on the coast has been converted to oceanside communities, but NO! This is very much rural California,

with very much unspoiled appearance, quite a gem knowing that it sits next to a great city! Point Reyes is a sanctuary for plant and animal species and also of the human spirit, for solitude, for a place to pray in and experience nature in its purest form, for discovery, for inspiration and for recreation.

There are many activities that Point Reyes offers, such as hiking, wildlife viewing, whale watching, backcountry camping, biking, kayaking and horseback riding. And for oysters lover, you can buy oysters in bulk and barbeq or steam at the beach, or just have them cooked for you according to how you like it.

@ jodapoet, I did not come close to the deer, he came closer to me, he was busy grazing that he was not looking as he kept on inching forward towards my direction, and when I clicked my camera when he got near he finally looked up (the picture above), and then, started running away
I felt sorry I disturbed her/him with a camera click.

At first glance, the desert may look uninteresting, but at closer inspection, its beauty is so awe inspiring, i love the beautiful formations and geology in desert.
That is so peaceful looking. With your photos, I can seen why so many people choose to live in CA despite the earthquakes and fires.
